SPRING
IS IN THE AIR

It won't be long before you can head to the beach with your D&B travel suitcase and beach towel. And who knows, you might even receive a welcome gift before then that goes perfectly with it. All in all, the forecasts for the weather and our 'business' are favorable. For instance, We Canteen has undergone a major upgrade, which we will launch to the market in a fitting manner on June 25th. Our new COO, Mike, is starting to find his rhythm, and a large number of promising sales processes are being worked on diligently. We can safely say that the bulbs we planted are slowly starting to sprout. Read along; we have prepared a few nice items for you again...

SALES IS
ON A ROLL!

We are welcoming another wonderful new client. On September 1st, we will be starting with a fantastic Multi Service team (Hospitality, Barista, Restaurant, Facility Management and Cleaning) for the ADP office in Rotterdam.

ADP is a global provider of Payroll and HR solutions.

With the concept name 'On a Roll', which refers to ADP's Payroll solutions and also translates to 'On a sandwich', three major competitors were beaten in the tender.

With this new location, we have added another beautiful, fully-fledged food court to Rotterdam. How cool is that??

LEARNING
ON THE JOB

A workshop alone does not change service delivery. The real impact only arises when hospitality is translated into daily practice. That is why Learning & Development does not work with a standalone training session, but with a trajectory in which the hospitality coach/specialist works together with the manager and the team. In this context, the workshop is not an endpoint, but rather the start of a joint development.

At Danone, this trajectory began with a customized hospitality workshop, developed based on input from the client and Anne, the Cluster Manager.

During the workshop, the entire guest journey was central, among other things: from arrival and reception to departure and follow-up. The team subsequently went through this journey themselves and collected findings, making employees active owners of the improvements.

The strength of this trajectory lay in the collaboration following the workshop. Together with the team, the insights were translated into concrete actions, measurable KPIs, and a practical guest journey handbook.

Additionally, the team works with a Hospitality calendar filled with monthly themes such as personal attention, sustainable experience, unburdening, and inspiring. As a result, hospitality remains continuously visible and part of daily operations. The manager plays a key role in this: through coaching, follow-up, and ensuring agreements are implemented in the workplace, hospitality becomes not a temporary training, but a sustainable change in behavior and service delivery.

This creates a collaboration in which the hospitality coach/specialist, manager, and the team work together towards a single goal: from insight to impact.

GO OUTSIDE WITH
ALLEO

Have you created an account with Alleo yet? Even if you opted for the extra vacation days, you can choose from a variety of discounts at Alleo. Simply because you work at D&B. Once again, we have highlighted a few that might come in handy in the coming period:

Awesome Mud!

Is the Zuidas Run, in which nearly 40 D&B employees will be participating soon, not for you? Then try to reach the finish line at Mudmasters between September 25 and 27; there are distances ranging from 6 to 42 kilometers. You can purchase vouchers under the 'Market' section in Alleo.

Bring out the flowers

Literally. The bees like that too. Do you prefer to leave the running and crawling through the mud to others and would you rather sit in your garden or on your balcony? Then spruce things up with an Intratuin voucher. For a limited time, you can purchase these with a 10% discount under the 'Promos' section in Alleo.

Be sure to also check out all the other benefits in Alleo. You log in with your D&B Microsoft account.

LET US INTRODUCE:
THE BOARD OF THE
D&B CULTURE CLUB!

In the previous newsletter, you read about the first achievement of our staff association: The D&B Culture Club. That was the Chill-out Ski Trip to Austria. Many companies have a staff association, and now we do too.

Why?

At the beginning of the year, the budget is determined for all kinds of activities that we want to organize for you. The goal is always fun and connection.

The board consists of a mix of eight people in total from the office and from operations. This ensures that everyone is represented.

On this page, we would like to introduce the board members to you, and you can see what the D&B Culture Club does for you.

TO THE JOHAN CRUIJFF ARENA
WITH YOUR TEAM OF FRIENDS

If you ask one of our recruiters: ‘Which vacancies are the most challenging?’, you will likely get the answer: ‘Number one by far: the vacancies for Security Hosts in the Amsterdam region. Here, we compete with Schiphol and other employers in the region, among others.

That is why Recruitment and Marketing have come up with something special for all D&B Security Hosts in the Amsterdam region.

After the summer (date to follow), we are organizing an exclusive ‘Bring a Friend’ event at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Are you a Security Host in the Amsterdam region? Then invite friend(s) or acquaintance(s) who possess a grey pass and do not yet work at D&B.

The event starts at 4:00 PM (walk-in) and consists of a tour of the Johan Cruijff ArenA, including snacks and drinks in the business lounge. A unique experience indeed!

You can find all the information on this special page.

Spread the word!

MEMBER PROFILE:
AMRESH AUTAR

In this edition of the Member Profile, we meet Amresh Autar. At D&B for less than a year and a half, but already a familiar face at SBM Offshore in Rotterdam.

Amresh was born in Suriname and grew up in Culemborg. A quiet place, perhaps a little too quiet, which meant he knew early on that the world was bigger than that. He explored that world fully: for 23 years he worked in the entertainment industry as a DJ, musician and producer under the name DaSix.

He made the move to D&B consciously. With a family, time together became more important. “I just wanted to be there,” he says. He ended up at D&B through colleague Kay, whom he met by chance in the playground. The process went quickly, and within a week he had his contract.

He started as an all-round Facility Employee but soon took on extra responsibility. As of January 1st, he was promoted to Facility Coordinator. His drive? Hard work, setting goals and continuing to grow. His next step: Facility Manager or Community Manager at SBM.

Amresh feels at home in the team: “We do it together. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” Sometimes his old passion returns, such as during the SBM Christmas party, where he was back behind the turntables.

In his spare time, he enjoys predator fishing and heading into nature with friends, preferably in Sweden. His message to colleagues: “Keep working hard, help each other, and always give your best energy.”

WE CANTEEN
CONCEPT DAY

On May 6, the Concept Day for the revamped We Canteen concept took place, and what a great success it was! With great energy and commitment, we worked together to build the next step for We Canteen.

What stood out most was the power that emerges when we truly collaborate. In the preparation for this day, connections were deliberately sought with various disciplines, ranging from marketing and sales to hospitality, design & build, and change management. Everyone brought their own expertise, ensuring a strong foundation and a day full of substance.

During the concept day, chefs, managers, and site and cluster managers from the six showcase locations came together. The morning focused on inspiration and insights, after which concrete work was done in groups in the afternoon.

Chefs got to work on variety and quality within the revamped concept, location managers delved into the restaurant experience, and site and cluster managers were challenged regarding their role in commercial site visits and safeguarding the proposition.

The energy was high: people felt inspired, appreciated meeting each other, and recognized one another's challenges. It is precisely this cross-pollination that makes the difference. This day is an important starting point in our ambition: restaurant league in high-end offices. A day like this shows that this is not just a nice idea, but something we can truly achieve together.

Watch the video for an impression of the atmosphere.

PASSES THE SECURITY CHECK

D&B has once again received the Security Quality Mark from the Dutch Security Industry Association. The presentation was hosted by Ard van der Steur (Chairman of the Dutch Security Industry Association) and marked the introduction of the renewed quality mark.

The quality mark demonstrates that we, as an organization, meet high standards regarding quality, safety and reliability. D&B is extensively audited annually for this.

Behind this certification lies a joint effort by colleagues within Operations, HR and Finance. Thanks to their dedication and daily focus on quality, we have successfully achieved this quality mark again.

A wonderful recognition for everyone who contributes every day to safe and professional service delivery.

WIN A TICKET
FOR FORMULE 1

Absolutely! The D&B Culture Club (you know: the Staff Association, but we’ll never use that name again from now on) has another fun prize for you to win. Namely, two tickets for the Formula 1 in Zandvoort on Friday, August 21st. These tickets grant access to the Hairpin grandstand, so it’s an exciting spot where anything can happen.

Now for the fun part. You stand a chance to win one of the two tickets. The other ticket will be won by a D&B colleague you probably don't know. You will spend the race together and film a short report that we will feature in the subsequent newsletter.

Send an email to jeroen.peters@db.nl with your full name and position (for example, Security Host) and you’re in!

Under the watchful eye of the camera, a board member of the D&B Culture Club will draw two names who will then get to know each other better on August 21st with the roar of the race cars in the background.

Good race!

FOUR
NUMBERS

In every newsletter, we will reflect on four numbers that mean something to us. This way, you will gain an increasing understanding of our direction and impact.

77.000.000.000

That is the total turnover in euros of the Dutch real estate and facilities market. And that is the market in which D&B is active. That 77 billion euros concerns the rent of all (commercial) office buildings and all services provided in those buildings, added together. A mnemonic: it is approximately 1,000 times the turnover of D&B The Facility Group.

343.000

That is how many people work in our field. The majority of them, about 200,000 people, work in cleaning. In security, we have approximately 14,000 colleagues. That is almost as many in corporate catering (13,800). By comparison: D&B provides employment to approximately 1,350 people annually.

150.000

It is almost unbelievable, but D&B has approximately 150,000 competitors. Well, that is to say, that many suppliers are active in cleaning, hospitality, security, facility management, mobility, and corporate catering. Many of them are small companies with only one or two employees.

30

Fortunately. There are about 30 competitors that we take really seriously. That is because they want to serve the same type of clients, or because, just like D&B, they attach great importance to quality.

ALL HANDS
ON DECK

Since September, a project named “All hands” has been active. This is D&B’s approach to improving occupancy at our locations. We need everyone for this: hence the name All hands. This time, more about: Your EPIC Start.

A great start with “Your EPIC Start”

Last Wednesday, May 13, the first edition of our brand-new introduction event, Your EPIC Start, took place. During this onboarding morning, 9 new colleagues from different streams were introduced to D&B and received practical explanations for a successful first workday. It was an interactive session with an enthusiastic group, during which many questions were asked and experiences were shared.

During the morning, topics such as clothing, logging in, AFAS, the ESS app and other practical matters important for a good start were covered. There was also time to get to know each other better during a quiz, after which we concluded the morning with a catered lunch. With Your EPIC Start, we aim to give new colleagues a warm welcome and ensure that they start their new job well-prepared, with confidence, and with the right information.
