WELCOME TO OUR
UPDATED NEWSLETTER
Here you'll find everything you NEED and WANT to know about your club. New clients, personal stories from colleagues, new concepts, drinks, and much more.

BUT...
WHY?
At D&B, we communicate with you through various platforms. We have AFAS, numerous WhatsApp groups, this D&B Culture Club website, emails, and communication with your manager. To make it easy for you to stay up-to-date on everything happening at D&B, we now have this newsletter. A mix of fun, interesting, essential, and useful topics that will keep you updated in no time!

DANONE

MIRO

BOUWINVEST
NEW
LOCATIONS
A regular feature in this newsletter are the Sales department results! This time, we're starting in Utrecht. Where we’ve already launched our restaurant 'BLUE', and have started handling security and hospitality there as well. A true multi-service location. In total, we work at three Danone locations: Utrecht, Hoofddorp and Rijswijk.
Another exciting new client is the young tech company 'Miro'. They recently opened their offices in the inspiring Edge Olympic, near the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. We're handling security and hospitality there.
Last but not least: we've opened another new restaurant, which will soon be beautifully renovated. This time, it's at Bouwinvest in Amsterdam Sloterdijk. In addition to We Canteen, we're also launching our Hospitality department there.
GROW WITH D&B:
GOODHABITZ UPGRADE!
Annika here! I'm the new Learning & Development Manager at D&B, and I'll keep you updated on everything related to your training and development. This time, I can report that our online learning platform "GoodHabitz" has some great new tools that make learning faster, more fun, and more relevant. Here's what's new:
Talent Scan
Answer a few quick questions about your personality, team role, and communication style to discover your strengths and find learning content tailored specifically to you. Choose from the personalized recommendations to further strengthen your skills or work on your development areas.
Lessons
I've heard it a lot: "The GoodHabitz training sessions take so long!" And I agree. These days, we're used to shorter texts, and we learn much better by improving 1% every day than by absorbing a huge amount of new information all at once. The "Lessons" are much better designed for this. Starting at just 30 minutes (and you can even split that, into multiple sessions, or skip parts) you can develop yourself on relevant topics. What about "Inclusivity" or "AI," for example? Another fun idea: create the same lesson with your team, and choose a time to discuss it. That way, you learn together!
Choose a class that interests you
New "Home" and Assessments
When you open GoodHabitz now, you'll see your personal learning hub: track your progress, view personal insights, and easily dive into recommended training courses. Did you enjoy and find the scans above helpful? Then scroll down to 'Your Insights' to take the full test or other tests that will give you insights into yourself. Very useful for discussing this with your manager! Because, of course, development doesn't just happen online.

ALLEO:
TIPS FROM THE EDITORS
Have you downloaded the Alleo app yet? Then you can take advantage of all sorts of great discounts. Have you been employed for more than a year? Then you can choose to have €20 credit deposited into the app each period. In this newsletter, we'll give you some helpful tips on what you can do with it:
Peaks
In the Marketplace, you'll see Peaks. This is an investment app. You can easily deposit your funds into this app and take your first steps in the world of investing. You can also redeem your funds through the app and have them deposited into your bank account. This way, you can quietly set aside some money and let it grow, or have a little extra available if you're feeling a bit strapped for cash.
Alleo Hotels
You'll find this section under Promotions. Click on "Get a discount" and a Booking.com-like environment will open with serious discounts on hotels. Highly recommended!
D&B members who opt for the two extra vacation days instead of the €20 periodic credit can also use the Alleo app and enjoy offers and discounts!

MTO 2024:
WHAT HAS IT ACHIEVED?
Do you remember? The results of our 2024 Employee Satisfaction Survey. It revealed several areas for improvement: satisfaction, salary, and benefits. It's important to know that these three areas in particular are continuously being addressed. A few noteworthy projects include:
Plannings Processes
The entire planning department has now been restructured and centralized. From new employees to new processes, we hope you've already seen noticeable improvements!
More attention
More time has been freed up for managers to provide personal attention. This includes one-on-one conversations about growth, development, performance, and any personal issues you may have.
New leadership training courses
To improve connection, communication, and recognition within D&B, training courses for managers have been launched. All Site and Cluster Managers are currently completing a development program that will run until the end of the year.
In upcoming newsletters we'll keep you informed about improvements based on surveys. Therefore it’s important for you to always complete the Deeper Employer Brand Survey.
MEMBER PROFILE:
NINA SANDERS
My name is Nina Sanders, and I've been working as a Hospitality Hostess at the World Port Center in Rotterdam for a year now. Before that, I worked for a year as a Mobile Hostess, but realised I wanted to work at a fixed location and with a fixed team. That turned out to be a good choice: I'm now part of a warm, close-knit group of colleagues.
And yes, I know what you're thinking: "Nina Sanders? Isn't that a character from Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden?" I get that reaction a lot, but don't find it annoying anymore.😉
I work at D&B three days a week and spend the other two days teaching dance at a dance school. I graduated from the Lucia Marthas Dance Academy in Amsterdam after studying there for three years. That might not seem long, but believe me: commuting between Rotterdam and Amsterdam every day is pretty intense!
Dancing is my passion, and the stability I find in my work at D&B allows me to continue to pursue that dream. For me, that's the perfect balance.
In the future I hope to grow within D&B and become a team leader or office manager. But for now, I'm happy where I am.
Finally, I want to share a message with all my colleagues: Hospitality is our superpower. Let's shine every day!
Greetings,
Nina

WE NEED YOU
FOR THE HAPPY FEW!
It's still a challenge! The need for talent has never been greater, both in the market and at D&B. We call this "The War for Talent." We could really use your help. By sharing vacancies and recommending people from your network, for example. And with the latter, you can even earn €750. Here's an overview of our "Most Wanted"!
Security Host @ PVH (Tommy Hilfiger) Amsterdam
Security Host @ ASML Veldhoven
Senior Hospitality Host @ The Bank

COLUMN:
JEROEN PETERS
Good news. Boring news. It all falls under "Internal Communication." That's my responsibility, and it's all about you. Why is that important? The better informed you are, the more engaged you'll feel with D&B.
The 2024 MTO revealed that many colleagues don't feel sufficiently informed which concerns me. I recently spoke to a hospitality hostess. "Hi, we're colleagues!" I said. "Oh, really?" she replied surprised. Which put me behind, -1. I asked if she was participating in the Zuidas Run. She looked at me wide-eyed. -2. "You can still register via the Culture Club website!" Which she replied by looking at me blankly. -3.
That conversation was a wake-up call for me. We can organise anything, but it also has to resonate. Hopefully, this newsletter is another step forward.

OUR NEW PEOPLE DIRECTOR:
CLAIRE BIRKHOFF
"Who are your colleagues, Mom?" my eight-year-old daughter asked me this week. I explained that I have 1,200 colleagues at many different locations across the country. "And what do they do? Do they also make bicycles?" (I previously worked for a bike brand.) No, was my answer. These colleagues at so many locations take care of the people who work in the buildings every day. She looked at me blankly, shrugged, and skipped away.
I started at D&B in March, having no idea who or what D&B was. My application stated that D&B "really is about the people" and that we want to make a difference every day.
From my first day I felt welcome at D&B. The culture is open and engaging and people speak their minds and want to help each other which I see everywhere and appreciate immensely. And the promise proved true: at D&B, you're not just a number. They consider who you are, what you can do, and what you need. But with the many changes within the teams and the facing staff challenges, I also see the daily challenges. That's why it's so important that we build strong teams where everyone feels seen and valued.
With my HR team, I want to build these teams with even more focus and quality. How do we ensure that employees feel well-rewarded and supported? And how can we better prepare for the changes in the world and in our profession?
My daughter finds bikes more appealing than facility services. But for me, it's crystal clear: everyone wants to be seen. Hospitality is truly seeing others. And you do that every day at our locations. It's my job to do the same for our 1,200 colleagues. If you have any ideas or questions about this message, I'd love to have a cup of coffee at your location... I look forward to receiving your invitation!
If you want to ask me something, you can always email me at: claire.birkhoff@db.nl
